Marist has again been recognized among the nation’s most innovative schools by US News and World Report. The annual US News Best Colleges rankings include Marist among the top four in the Most Innovative category within the Universities North region. This is the fourth straight year that Marist has rated in the top five in this category, which identifies institutions that are making the most innovative improvements in curriculum, campus life, technology, or facilities.

Marist also ranked high in several other categories, coming in at No. 11 for Best Regional Universities North and No. 16 for Best Undergraduate Teaching. The College also ranked highly in the Best Value category. The North region includes the Northeast, New England, and portions of the Mid-Atlantic.

Marist also has been honored as one of the nation’s most environmentally responsible colleges, according to the Princeton Review. The education services company features Marist in its online resource, The Princeton Review Guide to Green Colleges: 2023 Edition, and schools were selected based on a survey of administrators and students at 713 colleges during the 2021-22 academic year.

The Princeton Review highlighted Marist’s longtime commitment to environmentally sustainable practices on campus, noting that the College has a Campus Sustainability Advisory Committee (CSAC) staffed by students, administration, and faculty. The committee’s goals include educating the Marist community about the impact of their actions on the environment and establishing sustainability principles, goals, and best practices. Marist is also lauded by the Princeton Review for having a sustainability-focused degree available and for the school’s substantial commitment to sourcing local and organic food on campus.

Marist’s Games and Emerging Media program has again been recognized by the Princeton Review as one of the top gaming design programs for undergraduates. The 2022 announcement puts Marist’s program on the Princeton Review’s “Top 50” list for the seventh year in a row. The list ranks top college programs for video game design based on institutional survey data, including academic offerings in game design, faculty credentials, and career outcomes.

Students in the Games and Emerging Media program, which is shared between Marist’s School of Communication and the Arts and School of Computer Science and Mathematics, learn how to become designers, writers, programmers, artists, and producers. The program features industry experts and state-of-the-art facilities to help students become the game developers of the future and offers concentrations in technical development and programming and design, writing, and culture.
