1990

Yankee Publishing has named Kim Knox Beckius as its travel and branded content editor. A longtime freelance writer and contributing editor to Yankee, Kim will now contribute to all of Yankee’s channels, including the print magazine, web site NewEngland.com, Weekends with Yankee public TV series, and social media platforms. She is the author of seven books including Backroads of New England and New England's Historic Homes & Gardens.

Laurie Cerveny has been recognized on the 2022 list of “Go To Lawyers: Business” by Massachusetts Lawyers Weekly. The attorneys recognized were nominated by colleagues and chosen by a panel from Lawyers Weekly. Cerveny is a partner at Morgan Lewis in Boston.

Terence Flanagan was promoted to associate court clerk in New York State Courts.

1991

Anthony Azzara is working on a Disney/20th Century Television pilot.

Eric Frenzke retired from the National Guard on May 31, 2022, after 23 years and four overseas deployments in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom, Operation Enduring Freedom, and Operation Inherent Resolve.

Tom Hanna was named head volleyball coach at Canisius College.

Joseph Heavey (MPA) is a doctoral student at the University of St. Augustine.

Daniel Valeri, a New Windsor police lieutenant, was one of 254 law enforcement officers who graduated from the FBI National Academy on June 9, 2022, in Quantico, VA. The 282nd session of the National Academy consisted of men and women from 47 states and the District of Columbia. The class included members of law enforcement agencies from 26 countries, four military organizations, and nine federal civilian organizations. The National Academy offers 10 weeks of advanced communication, leadership, and fitness training. Participants must have proven records as professionals within their agencies to attend. Daniel joined the New Windsor Police Department in 1997 after one year with the City of Newburgh Police. He has served as a field training officer, a canine handler, and a patrol sergeant. He is a certified police instructor and a graduate of the Mid-Atlantic Law Enforcement Executive Development Seminar held at Princeton University. He received the department’s Meritorious Police Duty Award and its Excellent Police Duty Award and was the 2005 Officer of the Year. He has been a New Windsor resident for more than 40 years.

Peter Whalen (MPA) was promoted to the rank of brigadier general in the US Army Reserve.

1992

Jon Cerabone is proud to announce that his son, Alexander, started Marist as a freshman in fall 2022.

Lori (Iversen) Ferguson is now employed by the Tolland Public Library as a technical coordinator after working in Tolland Public Schools for 13 years. 

Michael Prout exited the US government after 25 years of service. He is now in his fifth year in a leadership role in security in the private sector.

Joey Sanford was elected into Sigma Xi.

Hillary Simon became the regional sales manager for Orchard in Seattle in March 2022.

1993

Darryl Balaski (MSIS) began a new position with the Texas Health and Human Services Department managing health and immunization registries systems after leaving Oracle University. He married Rebecca Cochran in February 2022. 

Jennifer (Smith) DeFelice was named one of New Hampshire radio station 95.7FM WZID’s 20 Outstanding Women for 2022.

1994

Poetry by John McMullen ’94MSCS, ’95MPA, the poet laureate of the Town of Yorktown, NY, has recently been translated into French, Romanian, Greek, and Doric. He is a graduate of Iona College (BA ‘61 in English literature) and was an adjunct professor at Marist and a consultant to former Marist president Dennis J. Murray in the early 1990s. He is a member of the American Academy of Poets, Poets and Writers, the Hudson Valley Writers Center, the Mahopac and Yorktown Poetry Workshops, and the Mahopac Writers Group; the author of more than 2,500 columns and articles and 11 books, nine of which are collections of poetry; and was the host of a weekly Internet radio show (300 episodes in the series). He is married to the wonderful Barbara E. McMullen, a former administrator at Marist, and is the proud father of Claire McMullen Cleary and Luke McMullen (www.johnmac13.com).

1995

Yahairah Aristy was named to San Diego Business Journal’s Women of Influence in Law Top 50 for 2022.   

Alexandra Oles was promoted to director of diversity and inclusion at Church Mutual Insurance Co. in May 2022.

James Pastore was appointed public defender for the Fairfield Judicial District in Bridgeport, CT.

1996

Michael Napolitano released his first Audible book, Michael & the Rockness Monsters World Tour.

1998

Jennifer Harmer ’14MA/’17MA/’20MBA recently transitioned to a new position in Marist Information Technology as technology communications specialist after 23 years in data center operations.

1999

Todd Myers retired after 22 years with the West Hartford (CT) Police Department. He now works in the financial sector as a senior investigator for Voya Financial.
